In short
VizoChat is a chat service that businesses put on their own websites. Two different kinds of people appear in it, and we treat them differently:
- Businesses who sign up, and their staff.
- Customers of those businesses, who send a message in the chat box.
If you are a customer chatting with a shop, the shop decides what happens to that conversation. We hold it for them, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to advertise to you.
What we hold, and why

What we do not do
- We do not place advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites. The chat uses your browser's own local storage only, to remember the conversation you were in.
- We do not sell anyone's data to anyone.
- We do not read your conversations to train a general-purpose AI model.
Where the AI runs
Today the AI that answers customers runs on VizoChat's own server. Your conversation is not sent to a third-party AI company to produce that answer.
If that ever changes — for example if a business chooses a more capable outside model — this page will say so, with the name of the provider, before it takes effect.
Who can see a conversation
- The business it was sent to, and the staff that business has added.
- VizoChat support staff, only to look, never to change anything. Every such visit is written into a permanent log with the staff member's name and the time.
- Nobody else. One business can never see another business's conversations.
How long it is kept
A conversation stays until the business deletes it. Businesses can delete a conversation from their panel at any time, and when they do the messages and any files sent in it are removed for good — not hidden, removed.
If you are a customer and you want your conversation deleted, ask the business you were chatting with; it is their conversation to delete. If they cannot help you, write to us at the address below and we will act on it.
Your choices
- You do not have to give a phone number. The chat works without it; you simply lose the ability to pick the conversation up on another device.
- You can ask what we hold about you and we will tell you.
- You can ask for it to be deleted.
Keeping it safe
- Everything travels over HTTPS.
- Passwords are hashed, never stored in a readable form.
- VizoChat's own staff accounts can require a second factor at sign-in.
- Uploaded files are stored outside the public web folder and are only served to someone who is already part of that conversation.
- Every action by our own staff is logged.
No system is perfect. If we ever discover a breach that affects you, we will say so plainly rather than quietly.
Children
VizoChat is a tool for businesses. It is not designed or intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this page
If we change how we handle information, we change this page and update the date at the top. Material changes will be announced inside the business panel as well, so nobody has to re-read this page to notice.
